The Foundation

Founded in 2018, The Kreen Foundation was created to help protect Patagonia’s biodiversity in the Aysén Region in order to safeguard the area’s natural and cultural heritage. Our conservation efforts are focused within the Cuervo River basin through the preservation of its ecosystems to support and protect the population inhabiting the region.

Located in the Aysén Region, framed by the Cuervo River basin is the Meullín-Puye Nature Sanctuary. This sanctuary is home to untouched water networks fed by glaciers that flow into the fjords, and contains  numerous wetlands, and a vast temperate rainforest of great ecological value that hosts native species of flora, fauna, and funga.

Kreen Foundation’s conservation efforts allow this space to act as a natural laboratory; enabling research development and outreach activities related to natural and earth sciences, as well as strengthening relationships and collaboration with the local community. Our conservation goals can be accomplished through constant and standardized data collection and research information management from the pristine ecosystems found in the Meullín-Puye Sanctuary. Our goal is to promote scientific research, and knowledge of this pristine Patagonian area.
